Tonight did not go as planned.
I did not get to finish the designs I started two weeks ago.
I did not get to fold the laundry that’s been waiting patiently for me on the couch.
I did not get to prepare tomorrow’s lunch.
I did not get to wash the dishes piled high in our sink.
I did not get to scrub down the counters.
I did not get to put away the toys cluttering our living room floor.
I did not get to note in my bullet journal.
I did not get to roast our veggies for the week.
I did not get to sweep the crumbs off our floor.
I did not go to bed by 10pm.
Tonight did not go as planned.
Instead…
I spent an extra 20 minutes nursing and cuddling my baby as soon as I changed out of my work clothes.
I sang the planet song with my middle child about 10 times. Maybe more.
After the singing ended, we cuddled on the couch and read his favorite solar system book 5 times.
I cuddled my eldest and listened to him tell me about his day, what he learned from homeschool, what he wants to learn more about, and what he’s thankful for.
I made stir-fried noodles for dinner (per the boys’ request).
We ate dinner as a family.
We sang the planet song while we ate our dinner.
Enjoyed a cup of chai with my husband at the end of our meal.
Prayed with my husband. We are so thankful for all we have.
Helped each of the boys get ready for bed. (Lots of kisses during this routine.)
Nursed and cuddled the baby for about 15 minutes before he slipped into dreamworld.
Moved onto my two eldest and spent a good half hour just enjoying them.
Kissing them.
Hugging them.
Thanking God for them.
Praying with them.
Then it’s lights out for them.
By the time I was ready for bed, it was 11:30pm.
Our home looks like it got hit by three storms. Storm O, Storm Y, and Storm I… Complete Chaos.
But we wouldn’t change a single thing about tonight. It may not have gone as planned, but it turned out perfect.
Our home, its mess, and its chaos will still be there tomorrow. The memories we made tonight are irreplaceable.
Our three storms are snoring away now. Dreaming of ice cream and cookies, no doubt.
Tonight may not have gone as planned, but it was perfect.
Now it’s time for me to dream about getting more sleep and a home that cleans and organizes itself.
Good night.

Wow! You’re amazing! Reading this makes me warm and giddy. I’m smiling as I picture this perfect chaos that goes on in your home. It’s silly of us to even have to make excuses for the mess and undone tasks. I’ve been there plenty a times. I love how patient you are with your “Storms” and hope you continue to share more with us.
Thank you Ro! This chaos has been my norm. I would not know how to act if things were different Hehe
Adorable and relatable!
Love your daily tales!
Thank you Sabina!
